Hello, and welcome to yarnstorm the sequel/revisited/regained/retrouvé. This is the perfect time of year to begin a new version of the blog I started in 2005 and wrote for many years. It will be a ‘yarnstorm sundae’ as this newsletter will go out on a Sunday morning and contain a sundae of sorts, a miscellany of good things and domestic creativity. If you read yarnstorm the blog, you will know what I mean. If you’ve read any of my books you will also know what I mean. And if you haven’t, then you will find out what this Sunday sundae offers as we go along.
I’ll be publishing it every Sunday because I have always loved Sunday mornings. A lie-in perhaps, definitely a dressing-gown and slippers, tea, toast and jam. Radio, maybe, or some favourite music*. And newspapers. Ever since I was young, Sunday papers have been a ritual and a treat, and my favourite parts were and still are the review sections with their mix of art, architecture, books, films, gardens, opinions and interviews which definitely took and still takes precedence over the tougher, often grimmer, news pages. It’s the blend of subjects that I enjoy so much, the discoveries and curiosities which often act as catalysts for what I think about and do.
The new yarnstorm is an opportunity to write once more about the wonderful everyday (said in a Swedish accent) and I look forward to having your company. I know this newsletter will be going directly to personal in-boxes, so I will delighted if you choose to subscribe. As delighted as I am to be writing again.
Yarnstorm back again! Yay! Good blogs are like vinyl rather than Spotify!
